About the Author
K.A. Stroud was formerly Principal Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at Lanchester Polytechnic (now Coventry University), UK. He is also the author of Foundation Mathematics and Engineering Mathematics, companion volumes to this book. Dexter J. Booth was formerly Principal Lecturer in the School of Computing and Engineering at the University of Huddersfield, UK. He is the author of several mathematics textbooks and is co-author of Foundation Mathematics and the seventh edition of Engineering Mathematics.

Good Collection of Solved Problems

If you want a good basic collection of problems and your math book does not have solutions, this is a good place for you to start.
I wish more US textbooks published the worked solutions to all of their problems. While academic types tend to disagree with this approach saying that it diminishes the student's ability to reason, I must take exception to this.
Using good worked examples allows a math "consumer" (such as an undergraduate engineer) a way to build his/her confidence.
Those of us working in industry do not need proofs or generic problems picked for the benefit of the teacher (with "easy" numbers or solutions that fit easily into a template). Proofs are for applied mathematicians and those working in the more theoretical areas of engineering (or doing PHD work). We need good tools and mathematics (when intelligently applied) can help us.
This book tends to demystify some of the more arcane subjects for the reader.

Great for reviewing math relevant to graduate engineering studies

This book is the sequel to Stroud's excellent "Engineering Mathematics", which focused on the undergraduate engineer and the math that he/she should know by graduation. This book continues on with crystal-clear discussions of numerical methods, linear algebra including the singular value decomposition and its uses, linear programming methods, multiple integration, and partial differential equations, to name a few of the topics covered. Just because the mathematics is more advanced in this book does not mean that it is any less clear than its less advanced predecessor. Stroud continues his tradition of holding your hand and leading you through every question you might have about working various types of math problems. I particularly liked his coverage of partial differential equations and numerical linear algebra topics. That is because it is hard to find advanced math books on these topics that are not written by pure mathematicians. Thus most of those books have a tendency to go overboard on proofs and not focus on the practical matters engineers must know in order to solve problems. The only negative thing I can say about the book is that it references Stroud's other book on engineering math, "Engineering Mathematics", during some of the explanations, possibly putting you at a disadvantage if you don't have it handy. I highly recommend this book as a reference every engineer should own.
NOTE: For some strange reason this review of "Advanced Engineering Mathematics" is appearing under that book and also "Vector Analysis" by the same authors. This is NOT a review of "Vector Analysis", just to clear up any confusion!

This is the sequel to the authors' Engineering Mathematics. It follows the same programmed instruction approach which is so effective in their earlier book. Students who like this approach and the earlier book should also own this book. It delves into more engineering mathematics topics like Laplace Transforms, 2nd-Order Differential Equations and Complex Numbers. All in all, a good book to study engineering mathematics.

Better Than Downton Abby!

From the moment I opened The Blue Pendent I knew I was in for a ride. The characters are so well developed, I could see the story unfolding like a movie in my head. What a brilliant story - not only of the lives of the people, but of history, society and the events of the day. I loved it from start to finish. What a journey! This story is right up there with some of the best historical novels - a wonderful glimpse of the courage and determination - and love - that carried these families through some of the greatest social transformations in modern history. I can only hope that Ms. Jennings is writing a sequel.

My Dutch Billionaire 3

My ARC copy of this book arrived in my e-mail today, and I've already read it - and loved it! I was so irritated with Willem at the end of book 2, I wasn't sure I could even forgive him for being such a jerk! But Ms.Tee did a masterful job, both by making him suffer for his stupidity and making him realize he could have lost Serenity for good! It was a very satisfying ending with an HEA we could believe in. But the best part was learning that the wicked stepsister wound up with an elderly Arab suffering from both impotence and gas! She so deserved him! (Though I'm not sure what he had ever done to deserve her!) I received this book as a gift from the author in exchange for an honest review, and, like I said in the first line, I loved it!

THAT ENDING! The final part to My Dutch Billionaire concluded Serenity and Willem's story to a Happily Ever After. A few months after Part II's departure, Serenity and Willem were miserable apart with neither refusing to show it. Shane played her part well as the antagonist in Serenity's life, and I thought that the change of tone in Serenity's stepmother showed her how human she was; she was rather selfish, vain, manipulative and ungrateful, but never (physically) cruel to a point of getting kicks out of it. Willem's resilient nature helped him a great deal with atoning for his sins...

Part III had more heartbreak and drama, with the question every young girl asks herself on the battlefield of love: 'should I stay or should I get revenge'? Okay maybe not that question exactly, but Serenity does make some heady decisions that will ultimately lead her to her HEA. She's a young woman with no experience with men (sheltered, all-girls schools, with a protective boss) so seeing her struggle with the right thing to do was great.

I recommend this to romantics and readers who enjoy a good case of drama and heartfelt risk-taking moments of love. The heroine is rather innocent and naive in her ways (though reserved), and the Dutch billionaire is a cruel man when crossed, though extremely protective over his loved ones. They bring out a nice balance in each other that many may enjoy.

I swear Marian has the best way to end series.. I just want to see what goes on in her head. lol

This is the literally the end (but figuratively the beginning of Willem and Sere's lives).

The last to their trilogy, it's a sad story, a hurtful story, a hot story, and a happy story. Within these main themes, she has several ones in between. It's crazy how I wanted too bad to bawl my eyes out for Willem and for Serenity. I couldn't stop reading it. I couldn't stop begging for Sere to end it and just give in, like I wanted to beg Willem in the first two books. I seriously needed their happy ending, I have always been rooting for them, cheering for them, praying for them.

I don't want to go into much detail but this part is where Willem grovels, on his knees if need be. This is where he takes what Sere dishes out she deserves in retaliation for all the pain and suffering she received from him. Willem is suffering, but if you want to go into deeper detail, Willem has been suffering since the beginning, he just didn't understand it then. Now, he's learning, and he's accepting and he's LOVING.

Serenity is in the preservation stage at this point. Her heart has been battered, bruised, stepped on, and she herself has been physically abused (by you know who). This is where they both grow together, instead of apart. They start understanding and accepting and opening and risking everything for their type of love.

For those people that have been with them since the beginning, you all know Willem only knew and witnessed one type of love. The love Sere has offered from the beginning is new and alien to him. He didn't know what it was and he didn't know how to handle or accept it. He went on the defensive, which caused book 2 and book 3.

But hey, we grew with them.

I admit, there were times I hated Willem but there were times as well I hated Sere. Both are stubborn people, but in the end they were meant to be, and they fought for it.

So yes, there is an HEA for them. (What were you expecting? Duhr...) Read books 1, 2, and 3. You need to live with them, to cry with them, to laugh with them, to hurt with them and to finally share their happy ending with them.

In 1885, the Arizona legislature selected Tempe as the site for the Territorial Normal School, the predecessor of Arizona State University. The Maricopa and Phoenix Railroad, which crossed the Salt River at Tempe, was built in 1887, and in 1911, the Roosevelt Dam was completed. World War II, the creation of Tempe Town Lake, and other 20th-century events also influenced the growth and character of Tempe, now Arizona's seventh largest city.

Great pics! Fairly in depth study of the town by the Salt. Huge volumes could be written of this burg and it's triumph and scandals. This is a really good start for someone interested in this town, now a " city". There are other books by other authors ,all recommended, do not leave this one out. The information presented was done so in a readable and interesting fashion, Well done!

the rubbish heap. If you even look at anything from the "author" mohammad
tarek ouda you will immediatly start to wormit and will do so for
at least a week. That happend to me.
